To boost the income of the small and marginal farmers (SMF)the Government has launched a new central sector scheme as PM SAMMAN NIDHI( PM-KISAN). It aims to supplement the financial needs of the SMF in procuring various farming stuff. This would also protect them from falling into the grip of money lenders.

We should thank the farmers that because of them we are eating food today. 58% of the Indian population are working in Agriculture and associated activities as primary income sources. The annual income of the majority of farmers is very low.

WHAT IS PM-KISAN SCHEME
- PM-KISAN is a central scheme with 100% funding from the Government of India.
- Under the scheme and income support of 6000/- per year in 3 equal installments will be provided to all land-holding farmers’ families.

- State Government and UT administration will identify the farmer’s families who are eligible for support as per scheme guidelines.
- The small marginal former landlord family is defined as a family compared of a husband wife and minor child who collectively on cultivated land up to 2 hectors as per land records of the concerned State/UT.

- The number of eligible small marginal farmers under the scheme has been estimated on the basis of the projection of agriculture census 2015-16 data for 2018-19.

- All farmer’s families irrespective of the size of their land( in starting of the scheme only small and marginal farmers who have 2 hectares of land are eligible but on 1/6/2019 scheme was revised and extended to all farmer’s families )

BENEFITS
- Direct payment of Rupees 6000 per year will be transferred in bank account installment of Rs 2000.
- It is mandatory for the farmer to have an Aadhar card to avail of this scheme
- All PM KISAN beneficiaries who already have KCC can enhancement of limit if required
- Loan application for an agricultural credit card for PM-KISAN beneficiaries

Question 1. How the beneficiaries farmers will be identified?
Ans:- It is the responsibility of the State/UT Government to identify the beneficiaries farmers. The prevailing land-ownership system/record of land in different States/UT will be used to identify the intended beneficiaries.
Question 2. What will happen if the beneficiary gives an incorrect declaration?
Ans:- The beneficiary shall be liable for recovery of transferred financial benefits and other penal actions as per law.
